If you live outside of the Okanagan, no worries. instead of a Tea Party with Chef Michael Lyon, you can win ‘Tea for a Year’.
Wow! What an amazing weekend it was. For us, it started on Thursday, February 7 at Tantalus Winery. Each of the competing Chefs, Judges and Olympians blended their own tea. We served James Chatto’s ‘Gin & Tonic’ Green tea chilled. It was amazing. Everyone loved it! and most of all, James was very pleased with his creation.
Everyone also had a chance to sign his/her tea creation to be auctioned off on Saturday evening, with the proceeds going to Canadian Olympic Athletes.

At the end of the evening on Thursday, each of the Chefs were given a mystery bottle of wine. From there they had 24 hours and $500 to prep food for 400 people on Friday evening.

The Mystery Wine Pairing evening was amazing. We all tried some amazing food, made from ingredients purchased in our very own backyard and Pierre and I got to mingle with some of the Olympians; namely, Adam van Koeverden, Kristi Richards and Kelown’a own, Kelsey Serwa.

Saturday morning at the Black Box Event was lots of fun. We had the opportunity to meet many MOTEAS lovers, as well as share with all the Kelowna ‘Foodies’ and wine lovers My Tea Blending Room. Please had the opportunity to smell and the see the amazing teas produced especially for this event.

After a morning of fun, we headed home to get ready for the Finale at the Delta Grand Okanagan. We set out over 500 tea samples for each guest.

We had a Spectacular night tasting brilliant food and enjoying some great company.

Congrats Mark Filatow from Waterfront Wines for an amazing show. You truly showed Canada what Kelowna can bring. Amazing!

Cheers to an amazing Competition! Looking forward to next year.
Remember, each of the teas that the Chefs, Judges and Olympians blended are available on our website, myteablendingroom.com/shop

Getting ready for the Gold Medal Plates has been quite the feat. Over the last 4 days, we have blended 24 different teas, produced over 500 samples to hand out and packaged a few hundred tins of tea to sell. Wow! Thank you to everyone who has helped! It has been an amazing week and we are getting ready for an even better weekend.

In just a few short hours, 10 chefs from across Canada will begin competing for the coveted title of the ‘Gold Medal Plate Champion’. It is a very exciting time for us spectators, foodies and wine lovers as we prepare to try some AMAZING food and some very unique, custom blended teas.
Over the past few weeks, we asked the chefs if they were up to the challenge of blending their #owntea. Eight of the ten took on the challenge, as did the Gold Medal Champion from 2012, Marc Lepine; 11 Judges and 4 Olympic Gold Medalists.
You will be able to taste some of these amazing blends on Saturday morning at the Black Box event and those attending Saturday’s finale will receive a sample of one of the teas.
We will also be auctioning off signed tins of each tea to raise money for Canadian Olympic Athletes.
